Cheese & Jenna
Hi I am Jenna , 16 years old, I am in 5th year of Havo and have been working in sales for several years. This is because my grandparents have a fish shop in Monnickendam, my hometown. Last summer holidays, I started holiday work at Henri Willig. Now I still work here on Tuesdays and Sundays. On Saturdays I still work in the fish shop. I now have 2 families a fish - and a cheese family :-)
Working at Henri Willig is great fun because you have a lot of customer contacts with international visitors and I therefore talk a lot of English, French and Spanish with guests. Sometimes I come home and without realising it I am still speaking English!
My work involves peeling and cubing cheese for tasting, showing and guiding tourists around the shop, replenishing products on the shelves and keeping the shop clean. I have since progressed from prospective salesperson to salesperson and will soon also learn to tell the cheese story to groups in English.
Next year, I will do a year of high school in America. A great adventure that I am really looking forward to. My father thinks this is a bit exciting but I'm going anyway, haha. After that, I will study law in the Netherlands and there is a good chance I will then start working at Henri Willig again as a part-time job in combination with my studies. The great thing about this location is that the whole process from the cows on the land to the cheese in the shop can be seen and experienced. It is just a lot of fun to be part of this.
