As Assistant Store Manager at Cheese && More by Henri Willig in Freiburg, you will share responsibility with the store manager for a premium cheese shop in an international, tourist-oriented setting. You will lead a motivated team, ensure an excellent customer experience and service, and contribute to the success of our brand. In this role, you’ll focus on results and quality, with your leadership making a tangible difference to both the team and our guests. You’ll coach and motivate your staff, oversee product presentation and the customer experience, and drive sales through expert advice and storytelling. You’ll make decisions within the Cheese && More retail concept, with scope for initiative and entrepreneurship. You’ll contribute to our brand’s reputation and ensure that our visitors enjoy a premium shopping experience that reflects our core values.

You will have a wide range of responsibilities that are essential to the success of our shop:
- Together with the store manager, you’ll share responsibility for the day-to-day management of the shop and the team, with a strong focus on customer experience, quality and commercial results in a premium retail environment.
- Together with your team, you create a professional and welcoming working atmosphere, centred on collaboration, ownership and job satisfaction.
- You will coach and develop staff, encourage them to take responsibility and ensure stable staffing levels, even in your absence.
- You actively uphold and promote the Cheese && More by Henri Willig concept to guests, colleagues and external partners, and act as a brand ambassador.
- In the store manager’s absence, you are the point of contact for local partnerships, suppliers and internal departments, and contribute to local entrepreneurship within clear guidelines.
- You focus on results such as turnover, service quality and team development, and report on these to the regional manager.
- Through your professional leadership, you and your team will work together to build a shop where quality, hospitality and pride are visibly combined.
We are looking for someone who has the following qualities
We expect you to have the following qualifications:
- Experience in a managerial role within retail, hospitality or a customer-focused environment, preferably in an international or tourism-related context.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, combined with a proactive attitude and a sense of responsibility.
- The abilityto coach, develop and motivate team members, whilst remaining clear, structured and decisive.
- A passion for retail, premium food and tourism, and the ability to promote these as a brand ambassador — both in-store and in collaboration with the marketing team.
- Analytical and commercial thinking, recognising opportunities for improvement and implementing them effectively.
- Fluent inGerman and English; an additional language would be an advantage.
- Flexibility within a fixed shop rota, four to five days a week, between 10:00 and 20:00.
