Buse moved to the Netherlands from Turkey to study psychology. After her master's, she decided to look for a side job where she could not only practise her Dutch, but also get energy from human contact. A friend tipped her off to Henri Willig - and that turned out to be a hit.

My name is Donna Detant and I have been working at Henri Willig in the Cheese Shop and Cheese Market in Edam for almost seven years now. Lots of visitors come to Edam and they come for the famous Edam cheese and the Cheese Market, with our friendly team we welcome them to our shop.

Hi I am Jenna , 16 years old, I am in 5th year of Havo and have been working in sales for several years. This is because my grandparents have a fish shop in Monnickendam, my hometown. Last summer holiday I started holiday work at Henri Willig.

After selling our catering business, I took six months off.
Then, literally with 10 application/motivation letters under my arm, I went past several nice shops in Maastricht where I could see myself working. When I arrived at Henri Willig's Cheese & More shop, all my letters had run out! But inspired by the beautiful shop and the lovely pavement sign outside with the job advertisement for young, young-aged old etc, I went straight home to write another application/motivation letter.
Since the opening of our beautiful Cheese & More by Henri Willig shop in Maastricht, I have started working as Retail Store Manager since 2018. Here, I trained a completely new team and we currently have a wonderful permanent team in our shop. After all these years, I still work with great pleasure for our family business Henri Willig. Meanwhile, this year I was promoted to regional manager, for the south of the Netherlands and a number of German branches. There have been huge challenges such as the Corona epidemic in which visitor numbers dropped dramatically. Yet we managed to pull through this as a company, shops and teams. Visitors are starting to come again and know how to find the shops.
After talking to many people in my immediate circle, I quit my job as a dietician and asked if I could work full-time at Henri Willig. This was a good choice. At a later stage, I talked to my then manager about the Henri Willig Academy for Store Managers and decided to participate in it. A year later, I became Store Manager of Cheese & More Bloemenmarkt. I am very proud of the path I have taken.
